About the event

The NDIS has provided neuropsychologists with increased opportunities to support people with disability, including those with acquired brain injuries, neurodevelopmental differences and mental health diagnoses. Through assessment, supports and intervention, neuropsychologists help participants access the NDIS, develop meaningful goals and develop increased capacity and skills for valued living. However, report writing for the NDIS often represents an inversion of the neuro-affirming and strengths-driven approach that neuropsychologists now adopt in many health settings.

This interactive workshop will provide a case-driven overview of neuropsychological writing in the context of the NDIS. We will consider ethical issues neuropsychologists may face in writing reports used by NDIS, and hear from those with lived experience of neuropsychological assessment and neuropsychological services and supports in the context of NDIS applications and reviews. Workshop attendees will gain an understanding of effective elements of writing reports and funding review letters for the NDIS, and participate in case-based activities to develop skills in "speaking NDIS". There will be substantial opportunity for group discussion and reflection throughout.
