About the event
Referrals for learning-related neuropsychological assessments are increasing, reflecting greater awareness of learning difficulties and the complexity of disentangling factors that can affect learning. This talk will include a deep-dive into the topic of Specific Learning Disorder and outline key considerations when evaluating this diagnosis across the lifespan. It will explore common co-occurring conditions and challenges in making a diagnosis. Current cognitive models of reading development will be reviewed to guide decisions about test selection and which skills are most important to assess. Finally, the talk will illustrate how assessment findings can be translated into practical recommendations for both intervention and classroom adjustments.
